Review:  ★★★★☆

To be completely honest, it has been quite some time since I had picked up an issue of Spawn.  You can really see the direction McFarlane wants to take the character in the next film which is pretty exciting.  Spawn is more like the boogeyman, popping up when needed to instill fear into the bad guys of the story.  With a more horror slant, you really need an artist up to the task and Alexander certainly is.  His art is chilling and easily conveys the terror in each panel.  If you happen to be like me and haven’t caught up with Spawn, this new approach is very different, but one that Al Simmons slides right into.  He is the creature who will punish you if you’ve done wrong, and luckily for us plenty of people had done wrong this week.
