Review: ★★★☆☆

The Amazing Spider-Man returns to issue 789 and returns with more of a whimper than a bang. Peter Parker has lost his company, Parker Industries. He has become a public menace due to the economic loss to New York and it’s citizens. Peter has to deal with the results of his actions and we get a continuing team-up with Mockingbird. Now I’ve read Spider-Man on and off for years so I’m kind of on the fence with this story. We all want Peter to succeed in life and be the best Spidey he can be.  This down and out story is decent, but we’ve been there done that. The addition of Mockingbird is an interesting twist. Dan Slott’s run on Superior Spider-Man made me realize he has much love for giving Peter grief so this story line should be a solid ride. Stuart Immonen is one of my favorite artists so it will be good to see his pencils monthly. This should be a good time to pick Spidey again, even though this issue wasn’t necessarily a grand return to normal.
