Review: ★★★★☆
Last issue we discovered that one of the robbers that Daredevil stopped, has died. Daredevil is being blamed for the death. Obviously, The Kingpin is up to no good here. Matt goes through the motions trying to prove or discover the truth. Zdarsky reminds us that Daredevil hits people with the intent of not creating permanent damage to his foes. The guy was trained by ninjas so he could seriously cause some harm. Sounds like your basic “set-up” scenario. It’s a decent mystery to be sure. In the meantime, Zdarsky has introduced a new character to the DD universe by the name of Cole North. He’s a hard-nosed cop from Chicago that simply has no support for the superhero business in New York. He just wants to do his job like a decent cop. He’s a well-written character that’s down to earth. We’ll see if he can get the better of Daredevil. I’ve enjoyed Marco Checchetto’s work on Daredevil more then I thought I would. He puts the details in the images and does a great job of figure illustrations. I hope he can keep up the work with this story arc and we don’t get a fill-in artist. Issue #2 is another good continuation of Zdarsky’s take on Daredevil, let’s hope the momentum doesn’t stop.
