Review: ★★★☆☆

For the most part, Annuals need to bear the weight of the lives of the characters. They generally do not do that. It’s alright to do side stories. Synder and Tynion have made this annual mean something. Nearly a year’s worth of Justice League stories build to the scale and scope of this story. The mission for the League is to repair the Source  Wall and keep the Dark Universe at bay. The New Gods, Shayera Hol and The Green Lantern Corps join the team in repairing the damage. This also involves Starman and Kendra(Hawkgirl) playing the fourth piece to the massive puzzle. It includes three impressive Titans that were part of the wall. The Legion of Doom is not going to make this easy for the League. They have added Brainiac to the fold. It’s nice when a story of this scale comes together. The book also gives us n moments with the Martian Manhunter and Hawkgirl. It’s relationship I didn’t see coming. Sampere’s art is eye catching and fabulous. He has a fantastic design for  the space setting. In the end the story introduces a new character that we’ve only heard about in lore. This introduces the Justice League to new brand of threat. This will be a much bigger fight for the coming year. Annual #1 is decent read that changes things for the Justice League and the DC Universe.
