Hopscotch Melange

Part: 1 Western Story

The Ice Cream Man series is strange to be sure. From time to time the series is grounded in a certain reality. It’s absurd to the point where it can simply just gross out the reader by it’s passive use of violence. Issue #9 is not quite that type of story. Prince and Morazzo give us a look into the Ice Cream Man’s life beyond what we’ve seen. Like the title suggests we are dropped into an old west type setting which includes giant spiders. In the old west you had relatives and the Ice Cream Man is no exception. The story focuses primarily on his cousin Caleb. The creators want to try and play the sympathy game and give us that peak into their lives. It remains to be seen if the characters are good or bad. The violence I previously mentioned shows it’s head but it’s not so passive. As with any western the sun sets and we are left with craving the next story. Since this is Part: One I have hopes that what arrives next will have an agreeable flavor.
