Review: ★★★★☆

It’s hard to believe that any one character in any comic series could be the cause of such universal chaos. Hawkman has been reincarnated over the span of many many centuries. He is trying to make right that of his original life. He was a Deathbringer. They wiped out millions upon millions of souls. Carter Hall is the current life of the Hawkman and he has been trying to discover this about his past. Issue #8 leads his quest to Krypton and his past life Catar-OL. This issue isn’t really one for action, but more so story. Catar-OL actually listens to Hall instead of fighting, due to point in history that Carter lands. We discover the Kryptonians had a means to stop the Deathbringers. Venditti covers all of his bases with this story. There’s a mention of Superman and Supergirl. Bryan Hitch illustrates a fabulous two page spread showing all the issues that have come from Krypton. Overall this issue is a great read and interesting to see how Hawkman and Superman are now linked together. Catar-OL’s crest is also very Hawk/Super like. The end with lead Carter back to Earth and far greater danger.
