Review: ★★★☆☆
Let’s recap with what Burnouts is all about. A group of teens get high and become “Burnouts”. During their condition they can see that people are possessed by aliens. They are little green aliens to be specific. The group has taken in a nerdy teen by the name of Andy. What makes Andy’s experience so relevant to this story is that he’s not used to being high or intoxicated for that matter. The group has fought other teens and cows in the previous issues. The last issue drops a surprise that becomes a harsh reality to the characters and readers alike. It makes the story more personal. Dennis Culver reveals a much bigger and gruesome plot in regards towards the little green alien men or jellyfish like looking things. The issue ends with a major downer to the story. It’s one of those comic moments you can’t un-see and takes the book to a much darker place then kids doing drugs. It drags us more into to the story.
