Review: ★★★★☆

Issue #8 dropped a bomb on us. The “bug” people have done something totally unexpected. It was a shock to Willa for sure. She goes through the emotions of revenge and relief. It’s something anyone of us would feel if we had no gravity and part of the solution was in front of us. This issue is more of Willa’s emotions taking a bigger turn in a more romantic sense. Lucas is hinting at his attraction to Willa. He shows her and us something new in this giant bug land that we’ve haven’t seen. Lee Garbett illustrates this with beauty and grace. It’s one of those feelings you get on a warm summer’s night where things just light up naturally. This moment is fleeting though. We learn the fate of Kansas City, which isn’t a good thing. It allows your imagination to get away with you. The story takes a turn that makes sense and makes us think about what’s right. It’s one of those moments that puts the characters at odds. This issue lays out so much potential for what’s next. Henderson and Garbett have continually given us a solid story, while absurd, it’s grounded to it’s realism. Let’s hope they continue to surprise us.
