Review: ★★★★☆

The cover alone makes us want to pick this issue up. “Beware of Namor” is a tag line we’ve seen many times before. Namor has been one of those Marvel villains you love to hate, but also one of those heroes you love to hate. Page 2 of the issue is plain that Namor isn’t messing around anymore. He has grudge to bear against all and every person above water. Even one of the Marvel heroes that assumes Namor is a friend takes a hit in this issue. It remains to be seen if the character will survive. This issue is obvious build up to issue 10/700. I’m normally not a huge fan of any artist change but David Marquez does some solid work. He would be a good choice to illustrate the Avengers from here on out if any artist could maintain a bi-monthly schedule. The end of this issue introduce’s Namor’s Defenders of the Deep team. It looks like the Earth’s Mightiest Heroes have their work cut out for them. Jason Aaron has done a great job of returning the Avengers to level that the book deserves.
