Review: ★★★☆☆

Venom: First Host continues the story line that Mike Costa and Mark Bagley was in the process of telling as of the end of Venom #165. Mike Costa has come up an interesting back story for the symbiote. Now it the story of the symbiote goes all the way back to Secret Wars in the 80’s. The “Beyonder” could have possibly grabbed tech from the Kree. This would be my explanation to this particular plot. Where does that leave Eddie Brock then? Caught in the middle of a Kree and Skrull war of course. This story is one I’m happy Costa got to tell but I didn’t see the twist…even if it was revealed right off at the beginning. Mark Bagley’s art continues to be breath taking. Ron Lim’s art is always a welcome sight as well. I imagine Mark needed back up since he was doing the stint on Deadpool. It will be interesting to see where this story goes from here. They’ve got me hooked so far.
