Review: ★★★☆☆

Upon opening the pages of Unnatural #1 I was somewhat at a lost for words, simply because I wasn’t sure what I was reading. Leslie is a woman/pig. She has pig ears, snout, and the curly tale. You get to see the tale first. In this universe, Andolfo has created, people are half animal and half human. Let’s just say they are overly sensual. It’s a world where these beings must gain a mate before they turn 25 or they are paired with someone of their same species. Shock value aside, the story is subtle in it’s message. It’s a society that doesn’t want people to be with others of a different species. It also penalizes people that are single with higher taxes. The story does touch on the subject of sexual harassment as well.  Andolfo’s art is beautiful with thin and flowing lines. Each character is distinctive to which half-animal they happen to be. Leslie is having sexual dreams that could be tying her to another character. This could be an interesting story or just some eye candy without merit. The next 11 issues will show us.
