Review: ★★★☆☆

Imagine a battle between good & evil or in the case of Sacred Creatures; Sins and Virtues. The book is loosely based along those principles. The story jumps between contemporary scenes and ancient past time frames. The modern story has a high end gangster feel. The past is a jealous lover tale with some serious reprocussions. Pablo Raimondi provides art duties for the modern times. He does an excellent job of basing some of his characters on real actors. Lucius(Envy) comes off looking like French Actor Vincent Cassel. We’ve seen him in feature films like Matrix Reloaded, Black Swan, and Jason Bourne. The ancient storyl line is illustrated by old school artist Klaus Janson. Janson has been popular for several decades so it’s nice to him producing material. The past stories are graphic violent and bloody. The book shows us how the two stories all tie together. I’m not quite sure this is a book I really want to drop into without catching up. At first glance it’s hard to see where this book is headed so it’ll be an interesting read from here. Clearly, fans of the book, have had a decent read so far…with much more to come.
