Review: ★★★☆☆

What is obviously a spy type story that involves the after effects of the Cold War. Carter Carlson is the focus of the story’s narrative. He is an EX CIA Special Ops Agent. He grew up with a seemingly normal 60’s American upbringing. Our storytellers made sure his back story involving Carter’s love for superheroes. It gave him superhero centered type style. The outfit he is wearing during his first appearance make sense. I did find the design somewhat confusing since he’s an American operative.  We aren’t really given any idea what the “Dead Hand” happens to be. The book jumps back and forth in time, but I would imagine it refers to the ending that I didn’t see coming at all. The art is sharp and realistic enough to buy into the world being created. Even if it’s a world we can almost see happening now. It’ll be interesting to see this almost simple spy story turns out from here. The Dead Hand will be a huge mystery that will cleverly unfold in the upcoming issues.
