Review: ★★★★☆

Skyward tells the tale of what happens when the planet has a low gravity. You guessed it, people can fly. The book has an innocent beginning with a husband, wife, and their moment in time.  An event occurs and, poof, no gravity. There’s something about the fantasy of this story that makes it feel down to earth, so to speak. Henderson does a great job of showing how the main character, Willa, has lived like this since the event occurred. It’s her carefree attitude that makes the book a fun read. Lee Garbett’s art is really solid; it reminds me of a not so dark and blocky John Romita Jr. He illustrates his figures in so many purposely floating figures that doesn’t usually work in normal comics, but it plays well here. Skyward is a fun and unique read one, that should draw many readers.
