Review:  ★★☆☆☆

Star Trek Fans unite, IDW has released the Annual for Star Trek Discovery. Honestly, if you haven’t watched the show this might not be for you, unless you’re trying to find your entrance into the new Trek series. The book lays out the backstory of Lieutenant Paul Stamets. We basically get everything we need to know about the character, including his teleportation discovery, his relationship with Dr Hugh Culber, and the partnership that brought him and his discovery to the Discovery itself. The book gives us excellent insight to the characters motivations.  The plot did lose my interest with a lot of the science stuff. I personally like the action a little more or it started becoming a to nonsensical. Angel Hernandez is no stranger to the Star Trek subject matter. His attention to detail and ability to get the likenesses correct is always a welcome sight. Star Trek Discovery fans should find this a nice addition to the comic collection. I’ve personally haven’t really jumped totally on the Discovery band wagon, so this story wasn’t really one I wanted to read. However it wasn’t a loss on me, and should certainly serve fans of the series better than anyone else.
