Review: ★★☆☆☆

I still can’t seem figure out Coyotes. I want to call it Los Locos Abuelas (The Crazy Grandmas). Issue 4 drops us into a final battle between the mutated wolf men and the coyote, Seef. Seef is a giant coyote that happens to be the mortal enemy of our crazy abuelas. The narrative of the book is disturbing since mid battle we catch up to the cop in the story who has uncovered an illegal underage sex/slave club. It drops our main character “RED” into the middle of it all. The brutal end is gritty and gory. The coloring and edgy figure drawing truly sets the off putting tone of the series. The book does have a strong sense of female empowerment, but doesn’t come off preachy or overbearing. It’s possible that the brashness of the comic is the draw of it, in the end it’s type of craziness just wasn’t for me.
