Witchblade gets deeper to the core of the story for Ms. Underwood. It picks with her explaining to a detective about the previous issue’s events. It avoids the obvious, I killed the man with magical tentacles, but it’s self-defense. This issue deals with Alexandra coping with her new life that has been imposed upon her. In the process we get more on the background the potential bad element driving the story in the background. With that said, there is a tremendous amount a back story that will continue to keep our heroine on her toes. The art is still fantastic and has a sharp look to it. Roberta Ingranata does a great job of giving the book a good look and feel. The snow scenes are really done convincingly. The book has a tendency to be dark in the subject matter and tone. The mystery element to the story gives it somewhere to go from issue 2 and has us wanting more.
