Review: ★★★☆☆

From the minds of Tini Howard and Gilbert Hernandez (Love and Rockets) come a trio of three female assassins or Assassinistas. The story we’re gifted with is one that jumps around through the ladies’ lives. Charlotte”Scarlet” La Costa, Octavia “Red October” Price, and Rosalyn “Blood” Diamond are currently retired attempting to have maternal lives. While the story begins with the women being assassins it turns into a more normal situation. Howard does a fantastic job of creating their lives in a believable way and have them jump back in time to give us back story to support the characters current actions. Octavia becomes an insurance agent that sells kidnap insurance. The irony is all played out quite well. If you seen Hernandez’s artwork before then you can see its a perfect fit here. The book is a good read and ends with some internal family conflict that could be a decent continuation of the tale.
