Review: ★★★☆☆

This issue concludes the story arc featuring Venom vs Kraven the Hunter. Now keep in mind Eddie Brock has been protecting people who have been turned into walking and talking dinosaurs. The issue picks up with Venom pinned under tons of rock and rubble. It’s a situation that gives Venom’s morality a true test and the resolve has an interesting twist. I have to admit that the only reason I picked up the book was for Mark Bagley’s artwork. What can I say, I have been a fan for sometime. His design and style are a thing of beauty. The problem I’m having is the possible re-hash of Spider-Man stories and villains. Using Kraven in this situation is an excellent idea, but the final fight was somewhat not big enough for the possibility of the story. While Mike Costa makes the conflict within the personas of Eddie Brock and Venom interesting, the story just doesn’t hold the full weight it should.
