Review: ★★★☆☆

What do Franz Kafka, a rock band, incest, and a Moulin Rouge themed hotel have in common? Clearly a bit of insanity and Kid Lobotomy is the answer. To be sure Kid Lobotomy is a strange story indeed. Kid is a young man that gains a tad bit of medical knowledge while dealing with his inner demons. Kid’s father gives him The Suites hotel, which happens to look like the hotel in Moulin Rouge. Oh, and he ends up performing lobotomies there. The entire book is a nice back story about Kid and where his insanity begins and where it will go from there. Oh, and there are giant cockroaches too. Tess Fowler’s artwork is solid and detailed with a cartoony style that works well for this story. It’s cliffhanger and subplot (that begins at the beginning) are enough to give this book a second read and make it something truly unusual.
