Review:  ★★☆☆☆

Things look pretty grim for Angel, trapped on a pirate ship filled with zombies, Angelus and Darla floating away in a small rowboat with the sun coming out.  It sounds like a precarious situation, but it feels much less exciting watching it unfold.  We never actually see Angelus and Darla again beyond hearing about their predictable fate from Angel.  As for Angel and Fred, Illyria pops in and out the more dangerous things get, making her much to easy of an instant save.  It doesn’t help that Carlos’s art just fails to connect.  It’s a slightly more cartoony style, one that would feel right at home on an animated series.  On Angel it just feels out of place and makes the title lose some of its edge it typically has.  Things still don’t look very good for the duo so there is still a chance next month will turn out a little better.  We’re not counting it out yet, though this month was definitely a little rough around the edges.
