Review:  ★★★

Talk about a filler issue!  Last week we were left with the fate of three major characters unknown;  Archie, Betty, and Reggie.  You might assume that we would pick things up right where we left them.  You might assume even half way through the issue we would finally get back to things.  Nope, nope, and nope.  It’s not until the last four issues of the story when we finally find out a little bit more about what happened during the fateful three-way crash.  Instead the majority of the issue is spent following various side characters going about their daily lives, only to receive a tragic phone call telling them something bad has happened.  While I understand what Waid was going for in showing you never know when tragedy could strike, it does make it frustrating to follow.  It would be one thing to have been condensed into a smaller portion, but to steer clear of the main event for this long feels like a bait and switch of sorts.  Even with this mild sidestep, this story arc is still rife with possibility.  Whether a character actually dies next issue or not, this should be a moment that will shape the series for quite a long time.
