Review:  ★★☆☆☆

Angel makes his return for an 11th season, although it appears Faith is not along for the ride this time.  Having two seasons of the pair sharing a title makes it a little off-putting to have it change now, especially after they ended in what seemed like a renewed partnership.  For now Fred, and Illyria for that matter, are the only ones joining Angel.  The pair travel to Ireland to help an old, and unnamed, friend of Angel’s with an exorcism.  Except there is more to this than just the exorcism.  As always, something bad is coming, but this time Angel is linked to it.  Illyria seems to know more about whats going on than anyone and is ready to help out by using a certain power we never knew she had before.  As happy as I am that Angel is back, so far this issue has done little to actually get me excited about the title being back.  A vague big bad immediately hinted at, once again having to do with Angel’s past.  Way to rushed and we’ve already been there time and time again.  Oh, and Illyria can travel in time.  Which apparently she has always had the ability to do, only it just now comes out so Angel can remember whatever he forgot.  Wouldn’t this have been convenient when Wesley died, the one person Illyria really cared for who she possibly could have saved with time travel?  Or when she was originally imprisoned?  The issue was rushed and jumbled, giving a very shaky start to the series return.
