Ninjak and Punk Mambo continue their trek through the Deadside, finding one dangerous step after another. After a strange encounter with a Deadside creature, Mambo finally remembers what happened to her team last time she was there. Viewing her memories also gives us a look at just what has happened to Shadowman, or more aptly, what he has changed into. Neville’s narration of the events continues, which admittedly is cut back since last issue, but still feels like nails on a chalk board. Every time we see his overview of what happened just takes us out of the moment and the action. At least Braithwaite gets the opportunity to draw some big bad things in the Deadside that get us reeled back in. The backup Magpie story begins to make more sense now that we have a little more context for the character. Being only a few pages, it is very focused, even more well-rounded than the main story has been so far.
