Review:  ★★★★☆

Mister Chekov gives us a look at the famous Enterprises navigator before he actually received his first promotion.  It follows him as he is assigned to Scotty in engineering, who rides him hard as he sees the young mans potential.  The Enterprise becames ensnared in a dangerous pocket of space that threatens to destroy not only the ship, but space itself.  While Chekov eventually gets his time to shine, it takes quite awhile to get there.  Otherwise his journey is not very important to the overall narrative until closer to the end which was a bit of a shame.  We would have prefered the story to have included him in a stronger role than running around performing various tasks for Scotty.  It felt more of a normal ensemble issue overall.  Still, it was interesting to see what brought him to the bridge considering he joined the crew during the second season of the original series.
