Review:  ★★★☆☆

Since his introduction, we have not been a big fan of Archaeus.  Though the creators have been trying to make him more memorable by giving him the strong connection to Angel and Spike, we haven’t been won over.  This issue does little to change that.  In a ploy to rescue Nadira, Angel pretends to have been reverted into Angelus to win Archaeus and Drucilla’s trust.  Anyone should have seen that trick coming a mile away, but Archaeus falls for it immediately, no questions asked.  Otherwise the issue had plenty going for it, having Faith and Drucilla face off along with both sides going at it.  Yet Angel’s acting was so transparent, we have to wonder how just dumb and useless Archaeus really is.  The sooner they give him the boot, the sooner this book can get to being on top of its game again.
