Game News: IDW Adapting Powers Into Tabletop Games

IDW Games have announced they are creating brand new tabletop games based off of Brian Michael Bendis and Michael Avon Oeming’s Icon comic series Powers, which was recently brought to television by Sony.  Currently the Powers line will card, board, and dice games, each of which will have focuses on the characters and events of the series.

“We are thrilled to be teaming up with our friends at IDW. We have been very careful about how we merchandise Powers… only teaming up with the very best.” says Brian Michael Bendis. “And for these games, which are easily our most requested items, IDW is the perfect place.”

Powers has a lot of opportunity for game play,” says Michael Avon Oeming. “IDW is going to create something for new and old fans alike.”

The first game based on Powers will be a small box game where players will take on the role of investigators tracking down criminal powers.  As they describe it, in the game, players will be working together to track and hopefully capture a player-controlled super villain before time runs out. The game will feature an array of criminals pulled from the comic series, each with their own special abilities and rules. Throughout the course of play, players will not only have to determine how to catch their prey, but who exactly they’re hunting before they escape into the night for good.

The first Powers game should hit store shelves in early 2016.
