- Episode: Love In The Time of Hydra (S01E014)
- Review: ★★★☆☆
So where did they leave us last episode? Apparently there is another S.H.I.E.L.D. out there. They don’t really like Coulson going all alien crazy, spending this time trying find alien cities. The best part of this other S.H.I.E.L.D. is that Edward James Olmos is one of the leaders of the pack as Robert Gonzales. Is this good, bad or just confusing? I think I want them to have only one S.H.I.E.L.D. to look over us all. I think it separates all the other core characters they have created for us this season; Mockingbird, Mack and, Gonzales.
The title of the story is Love in the Time of Hydra so somewhere Hydra must be lurking. Well not so much; it’s just Grant trying to cure Agent 33 from her physical scars of the chameleon mask and mental scars from her brainwashing. As part of the therapy, Agent 33 and Ward infiltrate general Talbot’s base to get revenge upon Bakshi.
We all expected Grant to return eventually to the show. I liked the character as a good guy, so it’s still a bit of sting the guy being so evil/Hydra. We will eventually find out his purpose, unless he’s just there to create chaos. It just drags the season down a little.
Lastly, Coulson’s team is still trying to understand Skye’s powers. Coulson ends up taking her to a remote cabin somewhere until she can control her powers, conveniently where Steve Rogers recovered after awaking from being a Cap-sicle. I would love to see Skye’s powers go full tilt at the end of the season and see the price she has to pay. Until then, it is still interesting to see where all the different agents fall on whether she is to dangerous or not.
